Summit Broadband Acquires City Of Leesburg Fiber Utility Group

(Orlando, FL) January 12, 2018 – Summit Broadband and the City of Leesburg have completed the transaction in which the telecommunications company has purchased the City’s Communications Utility.

Finalized earlier today, the sale includes all the utility’s fiber infrastructure assets and customer accounts. Moving forward, Summit Broadband will complete the integration, focusing on a transition that is seamless from a network, information technologies, and a customer service standpoint. No action will be required from existing customers.

“The City has done business with Summit Broadband for several years, both as a customer and as a wholesale communications service provider,” said Al Minner, Leesburg’s City Manager. “We selected them to purchase our network because they are a well-established telecommunications service provider with more than 20 years’ experience and are a local company based in Central Florida. Customers can expect a smooth transition as Summit Broadband integrates our network into its Central Florida footprint.”

“We are excited to include Leesburg’s fiber assets in our robust fiber-optic network in the region,” added Mark Lipford, Chief Operating Officer at Summit Broadband. “Customers will continue to receive the high-quality service they have come to expect from the City of Leesburg, while getting the opportunity to explore additional solutions and services to further enhance their telecommunications package.”

Leesburg is a progressive city of more than 21,000 residents in northwest Lake County. The city government serves twice as many people with its electric, gas, water, wastewater and fiber-optic public utilities. Leesburg also is a central hub for commerce, attracting 50,000 people to work each weekday. For more information, visit
