Summit Broadband and the City of Lakeland Partnership: Powering Award-Winning Bonnet Springs Park

June 11, 2025

Summit Broadband has partnered with the City of Lakeland since 2021 to expand high-speed internet infrastructure throughout Lakeland’s communities. This alliance placed a special focus on improving connectivity in underserved areas and public spaces, like Downtown Lakeland and Lakeland public parks.

In 2024, Summit Broadband earned the unique opportunity to begin working with a local, favorite destination—Bonnet Springs Park. The Florida-based broadband provider was contracted to deliver a next-generation network and ongoing telecommunications services to support the large-scale, public park’s advanced digital infrastructure and smart park technology.

“The park required much more than an internet provider,” stated Charisse Kissenberth, VP of Business Development. “They needed a partner with proven industry experience, that was committed to innovation, and—most importantly— was able to ensure the highest level of reliability.”

Bonnet Springs Park has since been named USA Today’s Best City Park of 2025. On any given day, the park attracts thousands of guests to its eclectic mix of natural settings, family-friendly activities and events, cultural and educational attractions, events, cafés and dining options.

Today, approximately one million visitors each year enjoy seamless high-speed internet via a public wifi network throughout the park’s expansive 168 acres. Whether accessing trail maps, uploading photos, or staying connected with friends and family, Bonnet Springs Park’s guests are connected.

The broadband network also helps commerce thrive in the park. Vendors and food trucks rely on fast and reliable internet to process mobile payments, while the network enables real-time audio and visuals for the park’s many public and private events. Behind the scenes, reliable connectivity supports daily operations and logistics, ensuring smooth experiences for visitors and businesses.

Bonnet Springs Park has evolved from a local favorite into a nationally recognized model of what a modern urban park can be. It showcases how community involvement, local businesses, and public-private partnerships can come together to create something truly special—benefiting residents, tourists, and commerce alike.

“Now, just a year later,” Kissenberth added, “Bonnet Springs is impressed with the level of our service and reliability—and we’re very happy to say—they’re proud customers of Summit Broadband.”

All of us at Summit Broadband congratulate the Bonnet Springs Park organization on being named USA Today’s Best City Park of 2025. We are honored to serve the City of Lakeland and such an exceptional destination.
